...by small things...

I read a quote today... "instead of wondering when your next vacation is, maybe you should set up a life you don't need to escape from." Seth Godin
...Thinking about that quote, I realize it takes a lot of hard work to get -- that kind of a 'life' all set up -- (always a work in progress for me)... having said that, the efforts thrown wholly into each mountainous step are worth the sweetness of finding a place you feel to stay in, a place you need no escape from --where body is comfortable, soul is peaceful, and mind is beautiful-- my hope is that one day the daily struggle to attain this place will become an 'easy breath', as work efforts transition effortlessly to joy.
Every day I watch a pair of little Prairie Merlin's struggle and fight for their little space in the trees surrounding our home.  They tirelessly keep watch and guard against relentless and pesky Magpies.  Their efforts have proven noble and effective on every occasion.  One day, I hope for them the peace of not having to keep such vigilant watch.  Having said that, they have become stronger, with a sharper eye and tested protective instinct. They have honed needed skills and proven resilience and consistency in the face of imposing threat.
The threat of adversity and challenge is always before us.  We have the opportunity to stand firm and immovable,  to take action and protect our values and virtues, to build up and strengthen our relationships and come to a better understanding of our own strength.  We may be small, as are the Merlin's to the Magpies, but we can be victorious in our in devours as we stand tall and constant.  We must hold to truth, fight for liberty, move forward with faith, and pray for wisdom and strength.  We will find our best selves as we face, with humble fortitude, our opposition.

That We Are...

Okay, so its been a while. So much fun to be had and life to enjoy... I have been experiencing fantastic moments of love and joy with great friends and family, as well as breathtaking scenes of nature and life through multiple journeys and adventures.
Life experiences thus far through my eyes, and those of others we learn from, indicate to me that, while providing constant reminders of our fragile mortal existence, we are designed to 'go on': we fight for choice, we strive for knowledge, and we live for life. We are capable and teachable; we are adaptable and long-suffering; we are amazing---we are a mix of struggle and success. We are a combination of unconquered spirit, courage, and strength... and this is what makes us us, who we are, and who we were meant to be and become.

It's what I love!

So many interests and passions... capturing moments of exquisite beauty and life is one of them. Here it is then, inspiring grandeur to delicate parcels of life and hope.
An amazing feeling it is to entice our senses completely, allowing us to see the world around us. Various forms of intelligence working separately but together and intertwined, weaving a network of intricate detail... so many things for us to learn and discover, ponder and praise.

Here's to magnificent curiosity, gratitude, the ability to study and learn, the desire to know more... Enjoy!

for reasons unexplained

Life is CHANGE. Opportunities are endless, limitless, dynamic, and sometimes overwhelming.
A few thoughts on the matter: learn and study multiple options, but make a CHOICE; to do nothing is a wasted moment, a lost opportunity, an unopened door to whatever could be...i.e. a learning/growth experience, a piece to a puzzle, a thread in the grand tapestry of your life and others.
After making the choice and opening that door, PROCEED; follow through. It is a sad, invalid and undocumented case to realize 'it was right in front of me', 'right there', 'so close', 'waiting for me'...tangible, almost.
Also, a 'what if' should be encouraged over an 'if only'. A 'what if' is a curious and healthy expression of desire for growth and knowledge, whereas an 'if only' is wasted energy.
Not to say that we shouldn't learn from past choices or experiences which may have turned out to be mistakes or of a less favorable outcome... but that we revel in the new found knowledge, the stepping stones, the refiner's fire that brings us closer to a defined and chiseled image of who we really are...
where we are, who we want to be, how we should see ourselves, how we should love ourselves, the person we are through evolutionary pressures and choices, opportunities, and everything that leads to the inevitable, change.
Life can be what we make of it, so ACTIVELY ENJOY :)

Ryker aka: King of the Hydrant

Life is amazing. I am thinking about graduate school for round 2... can't get enough nerdy biology stuff. So, motto of the day: keep on learning!

As for Ryker, he is still the coolest dog. Things are pretty simple for him... his priorities: play ball...eat...play ball...nap...play ball...find a hydrant...play ball...do tricks and get treats...play ball... he also loves to hike, swim, go 4-wheeling, etc. ya, that pretty much sums it up.
